They are trying to have it both ways. They want to be treated as if they are inspired without claiming to be inspired, its as simple as that. "Spirit directed" is Ambiguious, you will never find a clear definition in the Watchtowers.

Spirit Directed... what exactly does that mean?
by Elsewhere inthe wts is always saying that it is "spirit directed".. what exactly does that mean?
does any of the literature ever actually define "spirit directed"?.
in the past the literature said that angels came down and told russel and ruthorford what "truth" was... then when their "truth" started to fail, the wts started using the phrase "spirit directed".. is this just a way of saying "god controls us, but we are not accountable for any errors made"?.

Did YOU Ever Experience A "Spiritual Paradise"????
by minimus inthe watchtower society regularly talks about how jehovah's witnesses are unique.
so unique----they alone enjoy a "spiritual paradise".
while you were a witness, were you ever in "spiritual paradise"??

well, as someone who was raised as a catholic, I must say that I did learn alot of Bible truths when I started with the WTS, Hellfire, Eternal Soul, Trinity etc.. and I did think at one stage I was lucky, and since they kept telling me I was. But I've found that they've just replaced one religious Lie with another religious Lie, e.g. Christ return in 1914, Jerusalem being destroyed in 607. The WTS being the FDS, NO Blood Transfusions etc..
It is really only the large main stream religions that have the Mass, where they just go threw the motions, the priest says his bit and the people say their bit, and it go's on for 45 mins untill they go home, so really even if someone attends the mass every sunday morning for 20 years they will never really learn any thing of what the bible says.
The WTS use this, they give the impression that all other religions are like this, but its not the case, there are many smaller relgions these days who teach the bible to their flock, I've meet many with whom I was very impressed with in regards to their bible knowledge, some Assemlby of God, some Coptic Authordox, of course no JW's are allowed to examine other religions once they've become JW's so I guess most JW's will never know this, they will just keep beleiveing what ever the WTS tells, since the WTS are the only religion who truly have a 'captured Audience'.

MUST you respond in a thread?
by logansrun ini've come to a new conclusion about myself, this board and communication in general: i don't need to respond, elaborate, explain or otherwise defend myself to other people.
most notably on this board, of course.
here's my reasoning: .

Best Of British Sports Cars.
by Englishman inan mgb, an mg midget, 3 sunbeam alpines and an austin healey frog-eye.. 'course, some years back, the wicked americans put out a rumour that soft-tops were to be outlawed in the usa.
which meant that the uk sports car industry would take a massive body-blow to it's exports.
so, in true kamikaze style, the brits sports cars companies started producing absolute garbage with fixed tops so's they could continue with their exports... cars like the jaguar xjs.

Corporal punishment
by JustTickledPink inmy opinion is that jw's are into corporal punishment more than the general population.
maybe it's my imagination, maybe not.. do you remember being told "not to spare the rod" in disciplining children?
do you remember being that kid that got beat?.

I didn't grow up as a JW, but I've seen that kind of thing many times. I now have 2 step girls, I've being going to meetings with them since they were 9 & 10 yo, and they would use coloring books and read kids story books while during the meeting, some did complain but I told my wife not to stop the children, after all, they are kids, what do they expect from children?? to take notes !!
